Jan Rozzelle, Ed.D. is the SURN Executive Director in the School of Education at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Dr. Rozzelle initiated SURN 20 years ago with ten superintendents and the partnership has grown to 28 school district superintendents and their schools, the Virginia Department of Education, and The College. Her current research and development efforts strive to expand principal knowledge of high-yield learning strategies by working collaboratively with teachers to increase formative feedback to all learners. The Visible Leading Principal Academy was expanded this past year to principals across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Committed to the learning of others, she shares her work nationally and internationally through presentations and writings, including co-authoring Power Tools for Adolescent Literacy (Solution Tree), The Learning Communities Guide to Improving Reading Instruction (Corwin Press), and The Teacher Self-Reflection Survey Guide (Pacific Learning). Jan served on the IRA Adolescent Literacy Committee.
